The Lelit tampers have been designed to fit perfectly with Lelit portafilters.   They feature guiding rings along the base to help adjust the angle of the tamper so that is stays perfectly horizontal as well as a lip which helps air flor around the tamper therefore reducing suction when removing the tamper.

    It’s a solid tamper. You can feel the weight. I’m not sure it was necessary to spend this much on a tamper, but I didn’t want to buy a cheap tamper only to find out I need to buy this one. It sure beats the plastic tamper that came with the machine.
