The shape was designed by IMS to optimize the ratio between base and height of the coffee puck as well as facilitate drying and expulsion.

IMS 14-18 gram basket

Over all this basket works well, the only complaint I have is the fact that I have had trouble with the ground beans sticking in the basket after I’ve pulled a shot. Have to really smack it on the knock box to get them out. I’m a newbie to this whole espresso game , so maybe something I’m doing wrong 🤷‍♂️

Great upgrade from stock Breville Parts

I've been using the 14-18gr IMS basket with a Breville Barista Express.
It's a noticeable upgrade in taste.
You'll have to tweak your grind size most likely finer in order to get a good results with this basket.
It's a tight fit into the stock Breville portafilter. It's the genuine IMS basket with the marking on the side, as opposed to the china replica found on Amazon at the moment. for the same asking price.
