Pressurized Portafilter Baskets

Pressurized portafilter baskets are made with 2 layers to the bottom of the basked. The top layer looks like what you would expect to see in a normal portafilter basket, and then there is a 2nd layer with only a few wholes, or even just one whole, on the bottom of the basket. This helps to create extra additional pressure. Some people call this a dual wall basket setup.

What are the advantages of a pressurized portafilter basket?

The dual wall basket takes the pressure off your puck prep. If you have an inconsistent grind size or you're struggling with proper puck prep, the pressurized basket can help you by providing some of the pressure and resistance that you're missing in your coffee pucks.

They are super reliable and way less dependent on your puck prep routine, other equipment or experience. We also often recommend pressurized baskets for those who want to make rich, creama filled espresso using pre ground coffee.
