The DF83 ELR combines large  DLC (Diamond-Like-Coating) 83mm burrs with a powerful 550W motor to deliver consistency, minimum clumping and a fluffy grind.  The burr chamber was designed  so that it produces very low retention, even without the use of the bellow.  It also features a wave spring washer which makes the top burr carrier alignment much easier when opening the grinder to clean the burrs. 

We were so impressed with the results and quality of the DLC (Diamond-Like-Coating) burrs that we decided to include them with every DF83 that we sell.  The DLC  burrs last and stay sharp up to 10x longer than standard stainless steel burrs and the finish also has non stick properties that reduce retention.  The cutting pattern on these burrs has also been optimized for maximum consistency across the full range.

The DF83 was designed with espresso in mind, but it is also very capable in the pour-over range.  The extremely low retention (ELR), compact size and stepless adjustment make it a perfect grinder for any home and light commercial setup.

  • 58mm dosing cup with metal collar included:  Grind directly into the included dosing cup or into your portafilter.

Absolutely love this grinder!

The grinder arrived extremely well packaged, with no marks or visible flaws of any kind, which is impressive considering it shipped from Calgary all the way to eastern Ontario, and quite quickly! This grinder looks way better than expected on my coffee bar — in fact, it looks quite classy, upscale, premium. It was a breeze to dial in — pretty much nailed down with my second pour — and produces nice fluffy, consistent grinds with the DLC burrs. I also love that it comes with a hopper for whenever I grind for cold brew and, eventually pour overs. And I really love that Coffee Addicts also included the metal dosing cup along with the funnel. I really wasn’t feeling the love for plastic one in the product image. My one small gripe is it still produces enough static for grounds to stick to the grinder and the dosing cup/funnel, but I am hoping this will improve with time — otherwise, back to RDT!

DF83 exceeded expectations

I've been using a Compak K5 before anybody here in North America really knew of Compak. When I researched it for a purchase 15 years ago, I couldn't find much. Not even a comparable grinder among known. Well recently, I started researching new grinders and I wanted to find out about my own Compak K5. I found out it is considered equivalent to a Mazzer Super Jolly. I wish I had known that about 5 years ago when I bought a Compak K3 Touch Advanced. I wouldn't have bought it. It ended up for sale shortly afterwards. It just didn't compare to the K5. A few months ago, I found myself looking at a very nice grinder for sale on FBM. I had an epiphany that the grinder was what was holding me back in my espresso quest. I've had the DF83 for 3 weeks. I was taking my time dialing it in because I was getting so many new flavours I wanted to experience them all. And I don't drink espresso that much. These last three days though, I do believe I have the grinder dialed in just right! I am now getting espresso that compares favourably against my favourite local coffee place where they use a Synesso machine. I am using a simple Rancilio S24, and these last three days have given me that quality of espresso. So good! I couldn't be happier!

Perfect upgrade

Upgraded from a Breville Dose Control Pro and what a difference! Control over grind size is so much better, and this machine can grind way way finer for dialing in espresso. Shots are noticeably cleaner while still having great body for perfect classic Americanos every time.

Never mind that the DF83 is HEAVY (25lb!), oozes quality, and looks just sick!
